Desiree Mearon

Indigenous Engagement

Desiree is a proud Metis woman from Peavine Metis Settlement. This was where she lived until she moved her family to Grande Prairie to pursue a post-secondary education. During her 14 years in Grande Prairie, Desiree continued to raise her family, received her Bachelor of Social Work degree, as well as worked in various K-12 schools as an Indigenous Support Worker. Since 2019, Desiree has been working at Northwestern Polytechnic as the Indigenous Liaison Coordinator. She is passionate about helping and advocating for Indigenous peoples and helping to bring about change for present and future generations. Desiree is a proud mother of two daughters and a loving grandmother to three grandsons.
